LENOX, MA (05/14/2010)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent for students in preschool through ninth grade, is proud to announce that two ninth grade students, Ivy Ciaburri (Hinsdale, MA) and Isaak van der Meulen (New Lebanon, NY), are the named recipients of $1,000 scholarships to Berkshire Country Day School from The Lenox School for Boys Alumni Association for embodying the school's motto: "Not to be served, but to serve."
When BCD was founded in 1946, it was housed on the campus of The Lenox School for Boys, an independent secondary school located on what is today the home of Shakespeare & Company. The school closed its doors in 1971 but alums stayed connected and in 1987 formed an active alumni association.
"Isaak and Ivy, two long time BCD students, are the perfect candidates for this special recognition from The Lenox School for Boys Alumni Association as they exemplify the virtues of service and scholarship," says Head of School Paul Lindenmaier.
Ciaburri and van der Meulen were surprised with the honor at Upper School Morning Meeting on May 14, 2010. Presenting their scholarship award were Jim Fawcett, BCD English teacher formerly of The Lenox School for Boys; Bob Sansone, President of the Lenox School Alumni Association; and Lenox School alumnus Charlie McGee.
