Two PA Turnpike Closures in Place for Western PA
Westbound traffic exiting at Breezewood; eastbound traffic exiting at Beaver Valley.
HARRISBURG, PA (02/06/2010)(readMedia)-- There is presently a pair of Pennsylvania Turnpike closures in effect, both in western Pennsylvania where all travelers are being detoured off the Turnpike to avoid incident scenes.
All westbound turnpike traffic must exit at the Breezewood Exit, #161. As an alternate route, follow I-70 East to Route 68 West then follow I-79 North, reentering the Turnpike at the Cranberry Exit #28. The detour is necessary because of an ongoing operation to assist stranded motorists in the area of the Somerset Exit, #110. Tolls are being waived for all motorists at Breezewood.
All eastbound traffic must exit the Turnpike's Beaver Valley Exit, #13. As an alternate route, follow Route 18 South to Route 68 East and onto U.S. Route 19 South, reentering the Turnpike at the Cranberry Exit #28. This detour is necessary due to an accident involving two tractor-trailer trucks that is blocking the travel lanes.
