Two SUNY Canton University Police Officers Receive Advanced Training Awards

CANTON, NY (02/15/2018) SUNY Canton University Police Lieutenants Brian E. Kurish and Brian J. Perry recently received the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) Trilogy Award.
The two ranking officers were decorated after successfully completing advanced law enforcement training courses through the FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership institute. Kurish and Perry completed the three trainings within one year.
"I'm exceptionally proud of our two lieutenants," said University Police Chief Alan P. Mulkin. "They've enrolled in programs that strengthen their leadership qualities and studied to keep up-to-date on emerging challenges within the law enforcement profession."
Topics covered include leadership case studies, performance and risk management, command discipline and liability, bias and diversity, social and emotional intelligence, and public trust.
Each of the three courses are four-and-a-half day immersive programs designed for police supervisors.
Both Kurish and Perry have worked at SUNY Canton's University Police Department for nearly 20 years.
The mission of FBI-LEEDA is advance the science and art of law enforcement leadership and promote the exchange of information to improve law enforcement management practices through training, education and networking among police professionals.
