(UPDATE) MEDIA ADVISORY: Canals Media Event at Lock 6 in Waterford, Wedesday, Nov. 10

The New York State Canal Corporation will hold a press conference on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Lock E-6 in the Town of Waterford, Saratoga County, (directions below) to mark the closing of the navigation season on the New York State Canal System, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2010.

Canal Corporation Director Carmella R. Mantello will be joined at the event by State and local officials and canal enthusiasts.

Director Mantello also will unveil the recently completed improvements of Lock E-6.

Members of the media, including photographers, are invited to attend.

DIRECTIONS TO LOCK E-6 (Waterford): From Albany, take Route 787 North to the end in Cohoes. At the traffic light, turn right onto Route. 32 (Saratoga Street). After 1.4 miles, turn left onto Eighth Street. At the end of Eighth Street, turn left onto Washington Avenue. Travel 0.5 mile to Flight Lock Road (on the left). Take Flight Lock Road to Lock 6 (on the left).
