AIKEN, SC (02/12/2018) Aiken's Sunrise Rotary Club chose the president of the University of South Carolina Aiken Student Government Association as the Student of the Month for February.

Jacob Yarbrough, a native Aikenite, plans to graduate May 2019 with a bachelor of arts degree in communication and a minor in criminal justice.

He said he chose to attend USC Aiken because of the small class sizes and the "family atmosphere" on campus.

As the Silver Bluff High School graduate looks to his senior year at USC Aiken, he hopes to intern with a medical equipment sales company. After graduation, he'd like to earn a job with that same company.

In addition to the responsibilities of SGA president, Yarbrough is involved in several on-campus activities. He serves as the student coordinator of leadership programs and orientation team leader.

During the university's homecoming activities in 2017, Yarbrough was selected by his peers as the homecoming king. He earned the Dr. Sandra Hochel Communications Scholarship and a USC Aiken Alumni Association Student Involvement Scholarship.

Yarbrough, who maintains a 3.9 GPA despite his busy schedule, says he enjoys spending time with family and friends and "most importantly watching Georgia football in the fall."
