The Berkshire Branch of the US Green Building Council New York Upstate Chapter has announced the election of Bill Nappo, of Grayhouse Partners, Inc., a Berkshire-based general contracting firm, as the Council's new Chairman. Nappo was nominated when the former Chairman, Buzz Gray, announced his retirement in April 2009.
Mr. Nappo, who has spent much of his career focusing on the restoration and renovation of older or historic buildings, has been an active member of the USGBC for more than two years and is a strong proponent of all green building methods. Nappo is also strongly committed to green building education and to raising awareness of the many environmental and economic advantages green building offers to the local Berkshire community.
The Berkshire Branch mission is to transform the way buildings and our communities are designed, built and operated, resulting in a socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment, which improves the quality of life in the Berkshires. The Branch holds monthly informational meetings, which are open to the public.
The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.
