USW's Dede Perez named RRAC Softball Co-Player of the Week

HOBBS, NM (02/15/2011)(readMedia)-- (Feb. 15, 2011) Hobbs, NM-Dede Perez of University of the Southwest (N.M.) earned a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week award for Feb. 7-13.
Perez, a junior third baseman from El Paso, Texas, scored five runs in a 2-1 week for the Lady Mustangs. She went 4-for-4 in a double-header sweep of Sul Ross State University (Texas) including a pair of doubles. She scored three times in a 9-1 victory in the second game. Perez was 4-for-7 on the week with a slugging average of .857. USW is now 3-2 on the season.
Samantha Hernandez of Northwood University (Texas) also was named as a Player of the Week.
