USciences Brian Koronkiewicz (Gilbertsville, Pa.) Receives Martin and Karen Gibbs Summer Research Grant

PHILADELPHIA, PA (05/23/2012)(readMedia)-- University of the Sciences' biochemistry student Brian Koronkiewicz, class of 2014, has received the Martin and Karen Gibbs summer research grant dedicated to students in biology, and chemistry and biochemistry programs at USciences.

Koronkiewcz's research aims to modify the chemistry of a green tea compound because it may have implications in the development of an upcoming broad spectrum cancer treatment strategy.

Martin Gibbs, a graduate of USciences' Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, and his wife Karen Gibbs, bequeathed money to the departments of biological sciences, and chemistry and biochemistry in order to establish a single undergraduate summer research grant for a project that combines those disciplines.

Koronkiewcz, who hails from Gilbertsville, Pa., resides with his father, Michael, and brothers, Mitchell and Brendon.
