ANNVILLE, PA (01/24/2011)(readMedia)-- An Andy Abrahams Wilson documentary, Under Our Skin (2008) is a gripping tale of microbes, medicine, and money, exposing the hidden story of Lyme disease, one of the most controversial and fastest growing epidemics of our time. Scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Allen Theatre, the film is part of the Lebanon Valley College Colloquium Series on HEALTH. Tickets are $1 for non-LVC students and $3 for the general public. The film is free to LVC students.
Following the stories of patients and physicians fighting for their lives and livelihoods, the film brings into focus a haunting picture of the health care system and a medical establishment that puts profits ahead of patients. Stephen Holden of the New York Times said Under Our Skin is "scary enough to make the faint of heart decide never to venture into the woods."
HEALTH is a year-long integrated series of guest speakers and films that highlight and inform the various factors involved in society's consideration of its health policy. It will involve discussions on the politics of health care reform, sickness, aging, fitness, mental and eating disorders, and spiritual well-being involving thinkers and speakers from the sciences, arts, and public policy.
