JOLIET, IL (11/02/2012)(readMedia)-- JOLIET, Ill. – The University of St. Francis is pleased to announce that Jessica L. Nayder of Mokena, Ill. has been named this year's Student Laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois.

Nayder is an outstanding senior completing a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Student Laureates are honored for their overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities and are selected by a committee of administrators and faculty members.

"Jessica is one of those exemplary leaders on campus who understands the need not only to get involved, but also to make a difference through her involvement. She truly has embraced the college experience, finding ways to make her impact in the classroom, through student organizations, and in her community," said USF Dean of Students Damon Sloan.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, Nayder will attend the 38th annual Student Laureate Award Ceremony held in the Hall of Representatives of the Old State Capitol in Springfield. At this ceremony, Governor Pat Quinn, president of The Lincoln Academy, will present Nayder with the Student Laureate Medallion, a certificate of achievement, and a monetary grant in the amount of $500.

Said Nayder, "Since coming to USF, I have been given so many opportunities to grow as a leader, professional, and an educator. To me, this award means that I have done my job in giving back to the community that has given me so much in the past four years. This school has become my home away from home; I have developed such strong relationships and built amazing memories that I will never forget. It truly feels wonderful that I have been able to leave my mark in the few, short years that I have spent here."
