Update: Four Bridges over Mohawk River Deemed Safe, Being Reopened to Traffic
ALBANY, NY (09/08/2011)(readMedia)-- The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is reopening four bridges over the Mohawk River in Schenectady County that were closed earlier this afternoon. NYSDOT has completed an engineering analysis of these bridges and the impacts the water flow has had on them. As a result, the bridges have been deemed safe for travel. NYSDOT staff will continue to monitor all of the bridges to ensure the continued safety of the traveling public.
The bridges include:
· Interstate 890 bridge at Thruway Interchange 26 in Rotterdam Junction.
· Western Gateway Bridge carrying Route 5 between Scotia and Schenectady.
· Freeman's Bridge carrying Route 5 (Freeman's Road) between Scotia and Schenectady.
· Rexford Bridge carrying Route 146 between Schenectady and Clifton Park.
The Route 103 bridge, which has been closed due to flooding since last week, will remain closed at this time.
