PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/22/2010)(readMedia)-- Valerie Shafir, PharmD, was recently named assistant professor of clinical pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Administration at University of the Sciences' Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Shafir is a graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy. Upon her graduation in 2008, Dr. Shafir completed her pharmacy practice residency and specialty residency in ambulatory care at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Her residency project evaluated prevalence and factors associated with adherence to ordered pharmacologic venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in hospitalized patients. In 2009, Shafir began her academic career at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
A native Philadelphian, Dr. Shafir is a member of American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and Rho Chi Honor Society. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
