BATAVIA, NY (07/15/2014)(readMedia)-- From an Emmy-nominated TV host to one of the longest running plays in Off-Broadway history, you'll find a variety of entertainment on stage this fall in the Genesee Center for the Arts at Genesee Community College. The community is welcome to the events in the Stuart Steiner Theatre in addition to exhibits to be shown in the adjacent Roz Steiner Art Gallery. There will be much to stimulate the mind and generate interesting discussion.

The season opens with the story of a bitter rivalry between bloodsuckers. The Forum Players Theatre Ensemble presents "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" Thursday - Saturday, October 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. The show, about two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom, was first performed in 1984 at an East Village Manhattan lounge. In June 1985 it moved Off Broadway where it ran for five years. The story spans several eras, from 1920s Hollywood to contemporary Las Vegas with "costumes flashier than pinball machines, outrageous lines, awful puns, sinister innocence, harmless depravity," according to The New York Times. Due to mature themes, no one under 16 will be admitted.

Author and TV host Jeff Belanger headlines "A Supernatural Evening" on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Belanger is one of the world's most visible and prolific paranormal researchers, authors and public speakers. He is host, writer and producer of the Emmy-nominated PBS series New England Legends, which explores the mysteries of New England. He has also authored more than a dozen books including bestsellers "The World's Most Haunted Places," "Weird Massachusetts" and for children "Who's Haunting the White House." He is founder of the popular paranormal website www.Ghostvillage.com and hosts the cable/Web talk show "30 Odd Minutes." Belanger is a sought-after speaker who has appeared on hundreds of radio and TV programs and networks. Don't miss this unique event which will include a Sign Language interpreter for hearing impaired audience members.

Three classically trained cellists and a rock drummer make up Cello Fury which brings its high energy music to the Stuart Steiner stage on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. This Pittsburgh-based band appeals to a wide audience across age groups and musical interests as they meld classical and rock genres for an original and organic sound. Cellists Simon Cummings, Ben Muñoz and Nicole Myers along with drummer Dave Throckmorton unleash vitality and rhythmic drive in their music and dare to venture past classical expectations. Cello Fury has performed for audiences as large as 67,000 through 13 states and abroad. The band also works with youth, encouraging study of traditionally classical instruments.

On Friday, January 30, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., GCC welcomes Ithacappella. Formerly known as the Ithaca College Men's Chorus, this group was founded in 1996 by four men with a love for singing and a passion for performing. Since its inception, the group has grown from its choral roots to become one of the premier male collegiate a cappella groups in the world.

Tickets for all shows are $8 for general admission, $5 for GCC Faculty/Staff, Seniors 55+ and Students 16+; $3 for GCC students; and GCC alumni receive a $2 discount. In addition to performances on stage, visitors to the Genesee Center for the Arts will want to stop in the Rosalie "Roz" Steiner Art Gallery.

From September 11, 2014 - November 20, 2014, the College's Fine Arts Faculty will showcase their work in an exhibit titled "Art Matters." The show will feature photography from Joe Ziolkowski, pottery by Moi Dugan and other works from Theatre Technician Ed Hallborg, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts Heather Jones, music Instructor Jennifer Sisbarro, and Assistant Professor of Digital Art Pam Swarts. Opening Receptions are planned September 11, 2014 from 12:30-2 p.m. and 5- 7 p.m.
