Victor DiNoia of Doylestown, Pa. Receives Fulbright Award

PHILADELPHIA, PA (05/31/2012)(readMedia)-- With a double major in economics and finance and minor in German, recent Saint Joseph's University graduate Victor DiNoia has been awarded a Fulbright Study Grant to the Duisenberg School of Finance in the Netherlands. He plans to focus his studies there on behavioral finance within international banking, and is committed to promoting ethical practices that will ensure sustainable financial policy at an international level.

DiNoia's interest in pursuing a career in finance began before he reached Saint Joseph's. "I became interested in finance during my high school AP macroeconomics course, where I learned the generally accepted principles upon which current economics is based," explains DiNoia, a graduate of Central Bucks East High School. "I found these concepts interesting and wanted to be able to apply these principles to real-world scenarios and financial markets."

While at SJU, DiNoia had the opportunity to spend a summer studying in Europe, upon receiving a Herta M. Stephenson Scholarship, which allowed him to study at Munich, Germany's Ludwig-Maximillians Universität.

This time, DiNoia is looking forward to a lengthier stay overseas and is excited about experiencing life in Amsterdam. "I chose Amsterdam because it is a culturally rich city with students and residents from all over the world, and it is also very centrally located within Europe," he says.

During his final two years at SJU, DiNoia spent time working for the Saint Joseph's Preparatory Finance Office. He was also inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international economics honor society, Delta Phi Alpha, the national German honor society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society.

Once he completes his Fulbright placement, DiNoia looks forward to employing his new skills in the business world, before eventually returning to academia - but at that time it will be to share his knowledge and experiences with others.

"After completing a master's degree, I hope to work internationally as an investment banker or business consultant for a few years to gain experience," says DiNoia. "Afterward, I hope to study for a Ph.D. in either finance or economics, and become a college professor."

DiNoia is one of five Saint Joseph's University students to be awarded a Fulbright this year.
