LAKE FOREST, IL (03/30/2012)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College junior swimmer Becky Shaak (Vienna, Va./James Madison) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her All-American performance at the NCAA Division III Championships last weekend.
Shaak, a junior, placed 15th in the nation in her best event, the 400-IM, on Thursday. Her top time of the day was 4:31.28 and she became the first Forester female swimmer in 25 years to earn All-American honors three straight seasons.
Shaak also finished 36th in the 200-IM on Wednesday and her career-best time of 1:07.77 in Friday's 100-breaststroke was good for 31st place at the meet. The 100-breaststroke time also moved her up to second place in team history, just 0.34 seconds off the school record in that event.
Shaak was also an All-American in the 400-IM last year and in the 1650-freestyle both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Shaak also earned the award twice each of the last two years.
