Voting Rights Advocates Urge Cuomo to Extend Absentee Ballot Deadline

NEW YORK, NY (07/09/2020) (readMedia)-- On June 22, eight voting rights groups, including Common Cause/NY, Citizens Union, Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts, League of Women Voters NY, Center for Law and Social Justice, New York Democratic Lawyers Council, and Vote Early NY, sent a letter to Governor Cuomo urging him to issue an executive order that allows Boards of Elections (BOEs) to accept any absentee ballot received by June 30. Right now, the BOE will legally reject any ballot postmarked after the June 23rd date.
