WAMC HELPS TO FEED FAMILIES ACROSS THE LISTENING AREA

ALBANY, NY (10/20/2016)(readMedia)-- WAMC Northeast Public Radio's October Fund Drive mobilized listeners to help the people who live and work in our communities. We raised awareness about the issues that families in our neighborhoods deal with each day, and raised $1 million to keep WAMC on the air.

"This is the fastest Fund Drive I can remember! We are incredibly grateful to all of our WAMC community members for making this happen. Exhausting, but wonderful!" says Alan Chartock, President and CEO.

WAMC partnered with The Seymour Fox Foundation and MVP to help The Food Pantries for the Capital District. When listeners donated to WAMC, The Seymour Fox Foundation then supplied The Food Pantries with enough food to feed 1,200 families of four for three months.

With the help of MVP, WAMC listeners helped to give 93,000 pounds of food to families in need in communities across the listening area. "I am pleased beyond belief" says Joe Donahue, VP of News and Programming. "The pace of this fund drive was stunning and we thank all who participated, especially those who chose to help both WAMC and area food pantries through two separate partnerships with MVP Health Care and the Seymour Fox Foundation in Troy to assist the Food Pantries for the Capital District. The empathy and love expressed in each pledge was overwhelming."

WAMC's three annual Fund Drives have continued to have success because of the combined

efforts of listeners, donors, volunteers, sponsors and supporters. A complete list of supporters is available at wamc.org. Anyone interested in learning more about the Fund Drive or to get involved should contact Colleen O'Connell, Fund Drive Manager at 465-5233x171.
