WAMC, Northeast Public Radio Wins Big at the Communicator Awards
ALBANY, NY (05/27/2008)(readMedia)-- Katie Britton, News Director for WAMC News, is proud to announce that several WAMC staffers have won three prestigious Communicator Awards of Excellence, and four Awards of Distinction. The awards received are as follows:
Bob Barrett, the Host and producer of National Production’s The Health Show garnered one for “Voices of Cancer” in the category of News - Production/ Editing.
Hudson Valley Bureau Chief Susan Barnett won in the categories of News - Writing/Creative Concept for “Father Divine”, and in the Sports category for “Enough Swing to Break Bats”.
The host of The Roundtable Joe Donahue & News Director Katie Britton received one for their collaborative work on “Garrison Keillor”, in the category of Productions - Production/Sound Design.
Joe Donahue also received one for his interview with Kurt Vonnegut, entitled “Kurt Vonnegut: His Final Interview” in the category of Feature Story.
In the category of Talk Show/General Interest, WAMC’s live afternoon call-in talk show, Vox Pop has garnered one for Katz on Dogs, hosted by Joe Donahue, and the guest was author Jon Katz of Dogs of Bedlam Farm fame.
And the News Department also won for the live coverage of the Mid-term elections, duly named “Mid-Term Elections”, in the category of Live Broadcast.
