Gas Odyssey will be screened on Tuesday, June 15 at 7pm at The Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio. Tickets are $6.00. The film will follow with a Q & A panel with the Director of Gas Odyssey.
When filmmaker Aaron Price heard about the Marcellus Shale, he was motivated to find out all he could about it, especially its economic potential for the areas he grew up in-Northeastern Pennsylvania and the New York Southern Tier. That, coupled with the misinformation he heard, drove him to make his first documentary, Gas Odyssey. The film explores what drilling in the Marcellus Shale has meant for Northeastern Pennsylvania and what it could mean for the New York Southern Tier. Aaron interviewed small business owners, educators, workers, landowners, farmers, politicians, community leaders as well as an environmental consultant and a hydro-geologist. Gas Odyssey captures what drilling in the Marcellus Shale means for the hopes and aspirations of an entire region, and what the environmental challenges of drilling really are.

Gasland will be screened on Thursday, June 17 at 7pm at The Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio. Tickets are $6.00.
When filmmaker Josh Fox discovers that Natural Gas drilling is coming to his area-the Catskillls/Poconos region of Upstate New York and Pennsylvania, he sets off on a 24 state journey to uncover the deep consequences of the United States' natural gas drilling boom. What he uncovers is truly shocking-water that can be lit on fire right out of the sink, chronically ill residents of drilling areas from disparate locations in the US all with the same mysterious symptoms, huge pools of toxic waste that kill cattle and vegetation well blowouts and huge gas explosions consistently covered up by state and federal regulatory agencies. These are just a few of the many absurd and astonishing revelations of a new country called GASLAND.
