ALBANY, NY (10/07/2026) (readMedia)-- WAMC/Northeast Public Radio has successfully achieved its goal of raising $1.25 million in its Fall 2026 Fund Drive as our community, staff and volunteers closed out a very successful campaign in just 6.5 days.
The Fund Drive brought in vital operating funds to keep WAMC listener and community-supported. Collectively, 6,045 donors achieved the fall fundraising goal – ensuring the station remains a source of independent, trusted news for the Northeast. Throughout the drive, WAMC's team brought news and cultural programming (albeit in shorter segments) to the region so the community could stay connected to the news they rely on.
WAMC's award-winning news and community programming reaches parts of seven states and into Canada, while digital content serves audiences across the world. Listeners from across the region (and beyond) showed a groundswell of support for the type of trusted, local/regional journalism WAMC is known for. This support allows all WAMC content to be paywall free and accessible to all.
"WAMC is investing in swift evolution to ensure our station remains a reliable source of information for our beloved Northeast region," says Sarah Gilbert, President & CEO. "With this showing of generosity from our region, we are able to keep the station strong – and evolve it to ensure we're strong for generations to come. Together we remain strong."
"WAMC is a reflection of the many members, listeners, community supporters, partners, underwriters, and donors who rely on the station – on-air and online. The Northeast sends a vote of confidence for fair, independent, reporting with each gift and allows WAMC to remain a part of the pulse of this region," added Lizzie Honan, Chief Development Officer.
WAMC Fund Drives occur three times a year: in February, June, and October. The station's success would not be possible without the generous support of WAMC underwriters, sponsors, volunteers and members. It takes the entire community, and WAMC is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with its community partners. During this drive, WAMC featured the excellent work of the Together for Youth, the Food Pantries for the Capital District, Trinity Alliance, Pittsfield Community Food Pantry, and the Columbia Land Conservancy.
The goal of every fund drive is to support the general operations of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. WAMC broadcasts the highest-quality programs from NPR, American Public Media, PRX, and the BBC World Service, as well as a wide range of award-winning unique regional programming.
