WAMC To Launch New Series Special “Boomers & Beyond”
ALBANY, NY (12/11/2007)(readMedia)-- WAMC/Northeast Public Radio’s award-winning Midday Magazine program will broadcast a week-long series of news segments, Boomers & Beyond, beginning on December 17th between noon and 1pm Monday-Sunday. Each day will cover a different issue; from caring for an aging parent and how to care for yourself; to retirement, Social Security, and financial security. Seven of WAMC’s reporters will speak to professionals and experts on these topics as well as air special stories and segments produced by WAMC’s Regional News Bureau Chiefs.
“There are approximately 75-76 million Baby Boomers; that’s a huge portion of the population,” says WAMC/Northeast Public Radio News Director Katie Britton. “Everyone is affected by what happens to them. Whether it’s their kids making plans to care for them, the younger generations having to restore funds to Social Security, or even the Boomer’s own economic status and job security. There isn’t anyone who’s untouched by this aging population.”
A breakdown of the topics being discussed each day can be found at: www.wamc.org. The broadcast can also be heard online or podcast from WAMC’s website. You can also visit the website for a full list of WAMC's frequencies and details on programming.
Alan Chartock, WAMC Northeast Public Radio's President said, “We hope our listeners will realize they aren’t alone in the issues the boomers are facing. Even if just a handful of people learn about a new program or service that’s available to them, it means we’ve down our job.”
WAMC/Northeast Public Radio is a non-commercial, listener supported public radio network broadcasting 24 hours a day to portions of seven New England and Middle Atlantic states.
