PADUCAH, KY (09/26/2018) Jeremi Bumpus of Paducah and Anica Smith of Benton have joined the Project LAUNCH team at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. The project is a grant recently awarded to the college by the West Kentucky Workforce Board to serve Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall and McCracken counties.
The grant provides financial and educational training support for out of school youth (OSY) ages 18-24 with one or more of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) specified barriers including, but not limited to low income, pregnant or parenting, and involved in the justice system.
The program has two goals:
Bumpus, who comes to WKCTC with a background in housing and residence life, will serve as a success coach for the project. He earned a master of arts degree in higher and postsecondary education from Argosy University and a bachelor of science degree in business management from Murray State University.
Program Facilitator for the project Anica Smith earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a master of arts degree in special education, mild to moderate from Murray State University. She brings 22 years of experience in adult education with West Kentucky Education Cooperative Adult Education Consortium.
