WYNIT Employees Band Together To Help Area Children And To Honor One of Their Own

NORTH SYRACUSE, NY (12/04/2007)(readMedia)-- WYNIT employees have joined together again this year to help collect toys for the Golisano Children's Hospital and the annual Salvation Army’s Toys For Tots holiday program.

This year’s effort takes on a special meaning for WYNIT employees since one of their own tragically lost a child last year. Four-year old Grace Murray, daughter of Bessie Ragan Murray, vendor-billing supervisor, died unexpectedly at University Hospital last summer.

“For those who have lost a dear and loved one, you are able to sympathize that the holiday season can be a very tough time of the year. We can focus on our losses or we can keep their memories alive by sharing the spirit of compassion and love. We would like to take the opportunity to bring joy and happiness to the fragile hearts and look beyond the hustle and stress that we tend to bring upon ourselves. Year around, there are children in need and in the hospital that cannot be in the comfort of their homes and people like us can make their stay full of comfort and peace,” said Ms. Murray.

“In honor of Grace, WYNIT and our employees are working together to conduct internal fund raisers that will allow us to present toys to both University Hospital and the Salvation Army,” noted Carl Reistrom, the company’s vice president of finance. Reistrom said the company’s employees raised enough money last year to purchase dozens of new toys and, “We look forward to a more diligent effort this year driven by not only the loss of a young life but also by our own personal spirit of compassion and support of those in need.”

In addition to a ‘tree of gifts’ where employees can pick presents to buy, Reistrom noted the company is donating a number of products that will be raffled during the next two weeks to raise funds to purchase toys for the two organizations.

WYNIT’s fund drive will run through December 14. Area residents that would like to join the company in honoring Grace’s memory are invited to drop off new unwrapped gifts at the company’s corporate offices on East Taft Road in North Syracuse. Those unable to drop off toys can make donations directly to the Golisano Children's Hospital in Grace’s memory.
