Wamc Winter Fund Drive Ends
ALBANY, NY (02/06/2010)(readMedia)-- WAMC/Northeast Public Radio finished its winter fund drive at 6:42p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010. A total of $800,758 was raised and pledges were still rolling in.
WAMC kicked off its on-air fund drive at 6 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010 and ended in five and a half days with 6827 pledges. Dedicated WAMC members and listeners locally and nationally called and pledged on-line all day and into the night to help make this happen.
WAMC Northeast Public Radio President Alan Chartock says "What this $800,000 success story shows in the worst economic times in history is that people value this radio station and will put their hearts and souls into making sure that it survives knowing that they really couldn't do without it. All of us at WAMC are emencely grateful for that loyalty and support !"
For the first time ever members could also watch their favorite radio personalities online all day long at the WAMC website. This is the first time that WAMC has done this and will they continue to video broadcast all of their local programming and future fund drives as well as continue their audio streaming.
Also, hundreds of regional businesses and organizations donated items, services, and food to the drive, wanting to be a part of the WAMC community. WAMC's fund drives are never possible without the combined efforts of all the contributing sponsors and supporters. For a listing of supporters, visit online at http://www.wamc.org/.
WAMC's fund drives help support the station's award-winning local and regional reporting, membership to NPR and network programming as well as all of the station's day-to-day operations.
