BATAVIA, NY (06/27/2016)(readMedia)-- GCC freshman softball All-American Mackenzie Weber (Wayland, NY) was recently named one of three Freshman Female Athletes of the Year by the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) for 2015-2016. Weber along with Monroe CC's Dana Isaacs and Niagara County CC's Kelsi Palistrant were honored by the conference.

Weber led Genesee in most offensive categories this spring, including hitting nine home runs which was the 14th most in the country. She tallied a team-high 54 hits, 27 runs batted in and totaled a .495 batting average.

Mackenzie pitched to a 6-6 record on the mound and finished the season with a 3.15 earned run average in 14 appearances. Her ERA was 22nd lowest in the country and she struck out 45 batters in 71 innings of duty.

Weber was just the second player named All-American in school history when she was named to the NJCAA All-American Second Team. She also earned All-Region III First Team and All-WNYAC First Team honors.
