West Brookfield resident Lauren Sparks honored with academic award at Elms College

CHICOPEE, MA (11/03/2009)(readMedia)-- Lauren Elizabeth Sparks of West Brookfield, Massachusetts, was honored at Elms College's annual opening convocation in September for having the highest grade point average in her class during the 2008-2009 academic year.

Sparks, a senior, received the Monsignor Conaty Award for having the highest GPA during her junior year. She is a double major in religious studies and English, with a concentration in theater.

Elms College is a co-educational, Catholic college offering a liberal arts curriculum that gives students multiple perspectives on life. Founded in 1928 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Elms College has a tradition of educating reflective, principled, and creative learners, who are rooted in faith, educated in mind, compassionate in heart, responsive to civic and social obligations, and capable of adjusting to change without compromising principle.
