Thunder sophomore Sarah Tomich has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office.
Tomich played a key role in Wheaton shutting out St. Thomas and Salisbury in the first two matches of the 2018 season last weekend. Tomich was a factor in holding opponents to just eight shots in two matches last weekend, including only four shots on goal. Wheaton shut out St. Thomas (Minn.) 2-0 in the season-opener last Friday as Tomich and the Thunder defense held the Tommies to just two shots in the shutout. Wheaton topped Salisbury University 3-0 on Saturday as Tomich keyed a Wheaton defense that held the Sea Gulls to just six shots, with only two shots on goal.
