LA MIRADA, CA (01/02/2014)(readMedia)-- Wes Noyes, a distance runner from Wheaton North High School, committed to Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman's track and Field program at Biola.

Noyes runs the 800m and 1,600m and holds an 800m personal record that is within striking distance of Biola's program record.

In addition to track and field, Noyes competed in soccer and cross country for the Falcons; he led the Falcons to the Illinois state cross country championships this fall.

Wheaton North is a part of the DuPage Valley Conference, one of the premier conferences in Illinois for distance running.

"We are pleased to hear that that Wes has committed to Biola, as he is the next in a line of super distance runners to come to Biola from Wheaton North," said Zimmerman. "Both Ryan Richert and Collin Christensen are also graduates from Wheaton North. Wes is just an absolutely superb fit for Biola."

Noyes excels in the classroom so he should be a natural fit for Zimmerman's perennial NAIA Scholar Team. He is a three-time DVC All-Academic Team recipient.

He intends to major in graphic arts when he begins his Biola career next fall.
