Wheaton baseball sweeps weekly CCIW awards

After a weekend sweep of action over Loras College and Greenville University, the Thunder baseball team followed with a sweep of the weekly CCIW awards. Senior catcher Sam Reichert and sophomore pitcher David Solfelt were named the Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respecitively, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. For both players, this is their first career weekly honor from the conference.

Sam Reichert led the Thunder in most offensive categories over the weekend. The Wheaton backstop batted .583 (7-for-12) at the plate with a slugging percentage of 1.083. Four of his seven hits went for extra bases including three doubles and a home run. Reichert also scored five runs and drove in five runs. After a three-hit opener against Loras that included two doubles and a home run, Reichert added two hits with three runs scored in the nightcap of the double header, and added two hits with three runs driven in against Greenville on Saturday.
