DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2024) (readMedia)-- Susan Jones of Winterset won first place and a $300 gift card in the Rana Pasta Creations competition judged Friday, August 9, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.
Anita Van Gundy of Des Moines earned second place and a $200 gift card. Carrie Henderson of West Des Moines claimed third place and a $100 gift card.
Sara Carlson of Des Moines won first place in the Most Rana Products Used class of competition.
Contestants were challenged to create an award-winning recipe using Rana Pasta products.
Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
