Yet Another Important Endorsement for Lee Zeldin
Long Island Gasoline Retailers Association Supports Zeldin for Congress
PATCHOGUE, NY (10/08/2008)(readMedia)-- Racking up another impressive endorsement, Republican and Conservative Party candidate Lee Zeldin now includes the Long Island Gasoline Retailers Association as yet another supporter of his campaign for the United States House of Representatives.
In their endorsement, LIGRA said that they know Zeldin "will do his best to represent the needs of [the gasoline retailers] industry."
In response to the endorsement, Zeldin issued the following statement:
I'm thankful that LIGRA chose to endorse me on another key issue impacting Long Island's middle class families. Rising gas and energy prices cut to the core of our present financial crisis, and LIGRA's support represents a powerful show of faith in my abilities to help navigate through these challenging times.
Along with the economy, energy reform is a major theme of this election. Throughout my campaign, I've supported a new direction for America, as we push to clean energy alternatives. In navigating this transformation, we must also address the present challenges we face. With this in mind, I have supported drilling in the 2000 acres of the coastal plains of Alaska, offshore and elsewhere domestically that enables Americans to access American oil, reduce our reliance on foreign oil, and reduce our foreign trade deficit. Additionally, we must cut red tape to boost the creation of more refineries.
Beyond that, many of these retailers are small business owners who share common concerns with the entire spectrum of issues encountered by small business owners all over Suffolk County.
