Youngsters Can Crow About Winning State Fair Awards
DES MOINES, IA (08/11/2023) (readMedia)-- Young contestants put their rooster crowing skills to the test in the Rooster Crowing Contest, judged Thursday, August 10, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.
Judges awarded first place honors to Phil Reeder of Des Moines, Owen Russell of Monticello and R. Barton of West Des Moines.
Liam Chicas of Altoona and Savannah Pitts of Maxwell each claimed second place.
Anna Nicholson of Fort Dodge and Everett Franck of Low Moor earned third place honors.
The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
