NEW YORK, NY (08/30/2026) (readMedia)-- On Monday, advocates representing Rape Crisis Programs (RCPs), Domestic Violence Providers, Child Advoacy Centers (CACs), and legal services organizations that are the backbone of New York's survivor response network will hold a virtual press conference applauding Governor Hochul for taking swift action to commit a combined $36 million in vital federal grant dollars though the state's Office of Victims Services.
Governor Hochul announced her commitment to filling these funding gaps following weeks of pressure from providers, advocates, and elected officials statewide.
Taken together, these programs offer non-duplicated services for survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and child abuse - 24-hour crisis support and hospital accompaniment, trauma informed counseling and support groups; medical advocacy; criminal/legal system navigation; community outreach and engagement; emergency housing; and legal services, including specialized support for immigrants - to communities across the state.
