Zeldin Calls for LNG Platform in Ocean, Dedicated To Long Island
Also Hails Paterson on Broadwater
MASTIC, NY (04/11/2008)(readMedia)-- Lee Zeldin, the endorsed Republican candidate for New York's First Congressional District, today issued the following statement regarding his stance on Gov. David Paterson's choice to reject the Broadwater proposal, a decision Zeldin encouraged since the Governor took office:
"This week, the Governor took the bold step of opposing Broadwater for reasons aligned with my stance and the stance of many concerned Long Islanders.
If a future proposal calls for repositioning an LNG project in the Ocean and directing all energy produced to Long Island, I will consider fully supporting the measure."
Zeldin served as an aide to State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle. The Shirley resident studied at the University at Albany, graduated from Albany Law School, and earned his commission through Army ROTC. He was a paratrooper, prosecutor and magistrate with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. In the summer of 2006, he was a JAG attorney deployed to Iraq. He is currently an attorney at Raiser & Kenniff on Long Island.
