Zeldin Challenges ‘America’s Most Liberal Ticket’
Zeldin- Unlike Bishop
PATCHOGUE, NY (09/12/2008)(readMedia)-- In the remaining weeks between now and Election Day, residents of New York's First Congressional District will be sure to hear a lot about what the Republican and Conservative Party candidate describes as one of "America's Most Liberal Tickets."
Lee Zeldin, the maverick candidate for the Eastern Long Island Congressional District, recently tabbed the Obama-Bishop ticket with the mantle amidst concerns that while less than one in five constituents describe themselves as liberal, his opponent votes along a liberal agenda virtually 100 percent of the time, wastes our money on pet projects for loyal donors and blindly follows the lead of his party's extreme left wing.
"As if my opponent's ultra-liberal track record doesn't violate our traditional values enough, the 2008 Democratic ticket is a virtual ‘Murderer's Row' of left wing extremism," said Zeldin. "When you combine my opponent with Senator Obama's status as America's most liberal Senator to the mix, the potential for the radical Daily Kos/Code Pink agenda to invade our communities is frightening."
Further highlighting the differences between Zeldin and his liberal counterpart:
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin opposes the 2008 Congressional budget resolution, which includes a $4,144 tax increase on the average family in the First Congressional District.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin opposes hiring halls and amnesty for illegal aliens.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin will vote for all life saving ammunition, supplies and equipment necessary for troops currently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin supports increased drilling in the 2000 acres on the coastal plains of Alaska, offshore and elsewhere domestically while supporting more research and development into alternative energy.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin opposes $190 billion Medicare cuts for senior citizens.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin supports a moratorium on earmarks, which include a bridge to nowhere in Alaska, catfish research at Auburn University, a peanut storage house in Georgia and more.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin opposes partial birth abortions.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin believes that every American has the right to keep and bear arms.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin has the intestinal fortitude to stand up to the leadership of his own party when appropriate.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin recognizes that "Use it or Lose it" is already the law of the land when it comes federal leases for domestic drilling.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin grew up in a middle class community in Shirley and went to William Floyd Schools with buckets on his desk to catch rain falling through the roofs of the portable classrooms.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin has served in the military and has deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin is trying to raise two young girls in a neighborhood oversaturated with sex offenders, sober homes, and code violations.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin believes that government does not know best and that our tax burden is too high.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin is an attorney who has been enforcing our nation's rule of law as a federal prosecutor and magistrate.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin has financed his campaign with over 11,000 donations averaging $50 each.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin is part of a generation that is prepared to inherit from his parents' generation a mess involving Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
• Unlike Bishop, Zeldin will be a bulldog, not a lapdog for a misguided liberal agenda.
"The Obama-Bishop ticket continues to push an agenda that's counter to the values of our communities, while wasting our hard-earned money for selfish political thank yous to campaign contributors," said Zeldin. "Between now and Election Day, I will do everything in my power to expose my opponent's two-faced strategies and introduce the radical D.C. values of Tim Bishop to the men and women of the First C.D."
