Zeldin opens Eastern Long Island's Disaster Relief Drop-off HQ

PATCHOGUE, NY (09/01/2008)(readMedia)-- In anticipation of Hurricane Gustav's impact on the Gulf Coast and subsequent potential weather-related challenges, the Republican and Conservative Party candidate for New York's First Congressional District, will today start collecting clothing and non-perishable goods for any areas affected by the storms.

"While we hope that Gustav does not cause the catastrophic impact we've seen with past storms, preparation and forward thinking are always critical to disaster response," said Lee Zeldin, running for the Eastern Long Island district. "While the people of the Gulf Coast are already greatly inconvenienced by Mother Nature, now's a great time to come together, show our generosity and take care of our fellow Americans in the event that our help is necessary."

Zeldin will open the collection point at 250 S. Sunrise Highway Service Road in Patchogue at noon today.
