CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Chelsey Mattingly of Perryville, Mo., is among a select group of elite Southeast Missouri State University undergraduates chosen to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., during spring break March 11-16, learning about global issues in business, the environment and politics at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Students selected for the opportunity were required to demonstrate leadership involvement on and off campus, academic excellence or both.

Participants for the trip were nominated by faculty members and selected by University administrators, including Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins, Southeast Provost Ronald Rosati, deans and regional campus directors.

Mattingly is studying for majors in dietitics and pre-physical therapy. She is a sophomore at Southeast and is a volunteer at the local hospital.

Mattingly is the daughter of Robin Pfeiffer of Perryville. She was a 2010 graduate of Perryville High School in Perryville.
