CHESTER, PA (05/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Andrew C. Montgomery of Whitehall, Pa., was commissioned as a second lieutenant of the U.S. Army on Thursday, May 10 through the ROTC program at Widener University. He graduated from Widener on May 12 with a bachelor's degree in biology and minors in chemistry and biochemistry.
During his senior year at Widener, Montgomery served as the battalion operations officer and Alpha Company first sergeant. He is a graduate of the Leader's Development and Assessment Course and Air Assault School.
Montgomery will enter active duty to attend the Chemical Corps Basic Officer Leaders Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., with a follow on assignment at Fort Drum, N.Y.
Montgomery's parents, Craig and Deborah Montgomery, participated in the commissioning ceremony by pinning on their son's rank.
