POTSDAM, NY (07/25/2012)(readMedia)-- Douglas Neugold of Goshen, Conn., president, CEO and chairman of ATMI Inc., has been honored with the Golden Knight Award by his alma mater, Clarkson University.
Presented each year during Reunion Weekend, Clarkson's most prestigious alumni award is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves either by service to Clarkson through Alumni Association activities or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson.
Neugold received his bachelor of science degree in industrial distribution from Clarkson University in 1982.
Neugold began his career at Johnson Matthey, electronics division, where he held a variety of positions around the world before becoming president of their Semiconductor Packages Group.
In 1998, he joined ATMI as vice president of the NovaSource division. Currently, he is chairman of the board and chief executive officer and responsible for leading ATMI's worldwide operations.
During Neugold's tenure, ATMI has created a global presence and is recognized as a leading supplier of materials used in the production of integrated circuits by the worlds most advanced device producers, with an intense focus on building global capabilities in all functions, most notably in development and applications support. In addition to ensuring ATMI maintains and improves on its Microelectronics leadership position, he has been leading efforts to use its core competencies to build businesses focused on taking advantage of many opportunities in the biopharma and energy-related markets.
In 2003, Neugold was elected a director of Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), the trade association serving the worldwide semiconductor equipment, materials and flat panel display industries, where he currently serves as chairman.
Neugold has been a member of the Clarkson Business Leadership Council for the last six years and an active alumni admissions volunteer.
Neugold resides in Goshen, Conn., with his wife, Judy. They have three children, Clark, Colin and Evan.
