CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Nick Maddock of O'Fallon, Mo., is among a select group of elite Southeast Missouri State University undergraduates chosen to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., during spring break March 11-16, learning about global issues in business, the environment and politics at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Students selected for the opportunity were required to demonstrate leadership involvement on and off campus, academic excellence or both.

Participants for the trip were nominated by faculty members and selected by University administrators, including Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins, Southeast Provost Ronald Rosati, deans and regional campus directors.

Maddock is studying for majors in accounting and economics with a minor in business law. He is a sophomore at Southeast and would like to own his own business. He is manager of Lambda Chi Alpha Risk, a Resident Assistant in Towers North, a volunteer firefighter in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and a member of the President's Leadership Academy.

Maddock is the son of Kevin Maddock and Nancy Maddock, both of O'Fallon. He was a 2010 graduate of Fort Sumwalt West High school in O'Fallon.
