ROCHESTER, NY (10/03/2016)(readMedia)-- Noted author and publisher Robert Ellsberg will host the second installment of the 2016-17 Shannon Lecture series on November 3, at 7 p.m., in the Forum of the Shults Center, and November 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Linehan Chapel in the Golisano Academic Center. Thursday night (11/3), Ellsberg will be presenting A Revolution of the Heart: From Dorothy Day to Pope Francis. On Friday afternoon (11/4), he will discuss Saints and Prophets: Models for Today. Ellsberg is the publisher of Orbis Books and the author of several award-winning books, including Blessed Among Us: Day by Day with Saintly Witnesses; All Saints: Daily Reflections on Saints, Prophets, and Witnesses for Our Time; and The Saints' Guide to Happiness. His work as a writer and editor began in 1975 at the Catholic Worker House in New York City. Under Dorothy Day's instruction, he worked as the managing editor of the Catholic Worker Paper. He has worked to encourage and support writers who engage readers in "exploring the global dimensions of faith, inviting dialogue with diverse cultures and traditions, and serving the cause of reconciliation and peace."
The Shannon Lecture Series honors William H. Shannon, former professor of religious at Nazareth College. Father Shannon advanced the educational mission of Nazareth College and contributed significantly to Catholic intellectual life, both nationally and internationally.
