21 Berkshire Country Day School Students Recognized for High Scores on the 2010 National Latin Exam

LENOX, MA (04/14/2010)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School, an independent school for students in preschool through ninth grade, is pleased to announce that 21 Upper School students were awarded certificates and medals for their high scores on the 2010 National Latin Exam. The NLE exam is sponsored both by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. More than 150,000 students from all 50 states and 13 foreign countries took the test in March.

For the Introduction to Latin exam, Catherine Wessel (G8 – Lenox, MA) received a Ribbon and Achievement Certificate.

For the Latin I National Exam, the following students received Gold Summa Cum Laude distinction: Isabelle Raposo (G7 – Valatie, NY) and Nicholas Sprague (G7 – Lenox, MA).

For the Latin I National Exam, the following student received Silver Maxima Cum Laude distinction: Jasper Cole-Kink (G7 – West Stockbridge, MA), Sophia Hampton (G7 – Great Barrington, MA), Harrison Newman (G8 – New Marlborough, MA) and Zia ParkeHarrison (G7 – Great Barrington, MA).

For the Latin I National Exam, the following student received Magna Cum Laude distinction: Ginger Ciaburri (G7 – Hinsdale, MA), Charles Capeless (G8 – West Stockbridge, MA), and Hallie Novak (G7 – Richmond, MA).

For the Latin I National Exam, the following student received Cum Laude distinction: Jack Corcoran (G8 - Richmond, MA), and Georges Pichard (G7 – Great Barrington, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following student received Gold Summa Cum Laude distinction: Julia Reynolds (G8 - Richmond, MA), Grace Rossman (G8 – Great Barrington, MA), Helena Bruggemann (G8 – Stockbridge, MA), and Halina Piasecki ( G8 – Housatonic, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following students received Silver Maxima Cum Laude distinction: William Benner (G8 – Richmond, MA) and Samuel Blair (G8 – Great Barrington, MA).

For the Latin II Exam, the following students received Cum Laude distinction: Mary Grace McNulty (G8 – Lenox, MA).

For the Latin III Exam, the following students received Silver Maxima Cum Laude distinction: Ivy Ciaburri (G9 - Hinsdale, MA) and Benjamin Wheeler (G9 – Stockbridge, MA).

BCD students participate in Latin from Grade 6 through Grade 9 with teacher Eugénie Fawcett of Tyringham, MA.
