34 Berkshire Country Day School Students Recognized for Achievement at Regional Classics Day

LENOX, MA (01/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Berkshire Country Day School's Upper School Latin students (Grades 7-9) joined their peers from ten area and regional schools on January 14, 2011 to participate in a day of workshops and contests as part of the Pioneer Valley Classical Association's annual Classics Day at Mount Holyoke College. The BCD students were accompanied by teachers Eugénie Fawcett, John Dreger, and James Fawcett. BCD students study Latin from Grade 6 through Grade 9 with Eugénie Fawcett of Tyringham, MA.

The following BCD students were recognized for their achievements in the following contests:

ART CONTEST:

• Sculpture – First Place: Margaret Butler (G7); Second Place: Ford Boney (G&) and Skylar Graff (G7)

• Mosaic - First Place: Sam Kittredge (G7)

• Military – Second Place: Michael Basile (G8) and Peyton Schiff (G8); Third Place: Sam Capeless (G7)

• Model – Third Place: Helena Bruggemann (G9)

COSTUME CONTEST:

• First Place: Julia Bianchi (G8), Zia ParkeHarrison (G8), and Sophia Hampton (G8) as "The Three Graces"

• Third Place: Rebecca van der Meulen (G7) as "Juno"

ORAL INTERPRETATION:

• Advanced Drama - First Place: Ayla Hull (G8) and Nikki Speranzo (G8); Second Place: Sophia Hampton (G8) and Zia ParkeHarrison (G8)

• Intermediate Prose – First Place: Julia Reynolds (G8); Second Place - Rebecca van der Meulen (G7); Third Place - Helena Bruggemann (G9)

• Novice Poetry – First Place: Ian Price (G7)

• Greek – First Place: Hallie Novak (G8); Third Place – Ginger Ciaburri (G8)

CERTAMEN:
