500 Seniors Participate in Senior Health Fair at the Capital Region Health Park

LATHAM, NY (06/20/2007)(readMedia)-- On Tuesday, June 19th, 500 seniors participated at a Senior Health Fair sponsored by Price Chopper, MVP Gold Medicare Advantage, and Community Care Physicians, PC. The health fair took place at the Capital Region Health Park in Latham. This free event was sponsored by Price Chopper, Community Care Physicians, PC, and the MVP Gold Medicare Advantage Plan to promote health awareness through education and prevention and to provide information to seniors about services available in the area. Seniors who are active in their health were provided with an array of free health screenings and presentations. The free screenings addressed blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, vision, hearing, osteoporosis, prostate, pulse volume reading (circulation) and memory assessment.

Community information booths were also set up throughout the event providing materials about health and wellness. Questions regarding any prescriptions were answered by a Price Chopper pharmacist.

Starting at 9:30am, MVP Gold’s Community Health Educator, Kristine Lindahl gave a brief seminar on Walking Well. The Silver Sneakers Fitness Program did a demonstration at 10am, 11am, and 12pm, and free screenings were provided from 9am-1pm.

Refreshment and complimentary items were provided throughout the event, including Price Chopper gift certificates that were raffled off every hour. Seniors started lining up 45 minutes before the fair began to meet Yolanda Vega of the NYS Lottery, who was giving away free lottery tickets to the first 100 seniors.
