65th Troop Command Gets New Commander

SPRINGFIELD, IL (06/22/2013)(readMedia)-- Lt. Col. Michael J. Glisson, of Festus, Mo., a self-employed blacksmith artist in his civilian career, took command of the 65th Troop Command Brigade from Col. Eric Little of Springfield during a change of command ceremony June 22 at Camp Lincoln.

"I am grateful to God for this opportunity to continue my military career, especially in this fashion," Glisson told members of the brigade's 20 units.

Glisson thanked Little for "giving him a good head start" and then presented Little a 1944 edition of Bill Malden's classic book "Up Front" to congratulate him on his new assignment as Chief of Staff of the Illinois National Guard.

"The 65th is one of the most diverse brigades out there," Little told attendants of the ceremony. "They cover all aspects of everything. I look forward to supporting the 65th in my next assignment as Chief of Staff."

The 65th is based in Springfield and has approximately 1,300 Soldiers which includes Special Forces, public affairs and field artillery.
