AIDS Council Receives Multiple Grants

ALBANY, NY (10/19/2007)(readMedia)-- A $10,000 grant from the Dyson Foundation is earmarked for client emergency assistance services in Columbia and Greene Counties. The Dyson Foundation is a private, family-directed grantmaking foundation Headquartered in Millbrook, NY, the Foundation awards grants through a diverse regional funding program serving the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Until There's A Cure, an organization that is committed to funding innovative programs which promote AIDS awareness, support AIDS vaccine development, and provide financial support for care and services for those living with AIDS, congratulated the AIDS Council for their work and success in HIV/AIDS client and prevention services. $5,000 was received from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA), the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fund-raising and grant making organization. BC/EFA is the on-going, committed response from the American Theatre community to an urgent worldwide health crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of this community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $130 million for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.

The Glens Falls Foundation, a nonprofit community trust that serves the tri-county region comprising Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga Counties, has approved a grant of $2,500 in support of client assistance/emergency services programs of the AIDS Council.

National Grid has awarded the AIDS Council a $1,000 grant to support the Council’s client holiday dinner.

M.A.C AIDS Fund, long time supporter of the AIDS Council has awarded a $25,000 grant for testing and counseling in the North Country. The VIVA GLAM Program and other fund-raising initiatives of M.A.C are underwriting the hope of a generation in the fight against AIDS; making a life healthier, the road to medication shorter and a cure, hopefully closer. The AIDS Council is grateful to M.A.C for this grant, and for making HIV/AIDS awareness an integral part of their business.

Greater Adirondack Perinatal Network has provided a grant for $951 for an HIV/STI outreach campaign in Clinton County with the Clinton County Partners for Awareness and Service, comprised of the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York, Northern Adirondack Planned Parenthood and Clinton County Health Department. This grant will be used for testing.

The AIDS Council is grateful for the continued support of such organizations, which make it possible for them to continue offering cutting edge programs for HIV/AIDS services and prevention.
