NEW YORK, NY (11/19/2024) (readMedia)-- This morning, Earthjustice attorneys, advocates and impacted community members, and Assemblymember Dr. Anna Kelles will hold a virtual press conference celebrating recent wins against climate-killing cryptominers Digihost International and Greenidge Generation LLC. On November 14, 2024, two New York State Supreme Court judges issued landmark rulings that reinforce the state's ability to limit harmful pollution driving climate change and safeguard the health and well-being of its residents.
These decisions hold greenhouse gas-emitting cryptomining companies Digihost/Fortistar in North Tonawanda and Greenidge Generation in Dresden accountable to oversight and regulation under the CLCPA. Upholding New York State's authority to enforce its climate law is particularly significant given new legal and regulatory restrictions at the federal level.
Earthjustice attorneys, along with the local environmental advocates Earthjustice represented in these cases and partners with, will host a virtual press conference on Tuesday to discuss the significance of these decisions and their broader implications for the future of cryptomining in New York.
