PEABODY, MASS. (03/27/2012)(readMedia)-- After two successful years of tasty local cuisine and charity auctions, Acura of Peabody is expecting the third-annual Taste of the North Shore fundraising night to be the best yet. The Greater Boston Acura dealership will host the event, which will take place on Wednesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. EDT and benefit the 2012 North Shore Cancer WALK/RUN coming up in June.
Events like the Taste of the North Shore have helped the North Shore Cancer WALK/RUN raise more than $17 million since 1991 for the care of Massachusetts cancer patients and their families. This year, money raised will help build a new inpatient oncology unit at NSMC Salem Hospital and support the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in financing new equipment, wellness programs and research.
"Our entire Acura dealership is so proud to be supporting the North Shore Cancer WALK/RUN again with this year's Taste of the North Shore," said Joel Avery, general manager of Acura of Peabody. "Last year was a great success, and we want to do even better this year to ensure the people in our community receive the best care possible."

For more information, contact Meg Wright by phone at 866-296-6900 or by email at cancerwalk@partners.org. Space is limited.
The 2012 Taste of the North Shore will feature food samples and refreshments from a number of North Shore restaurants, including Legal Sea Foods, Red Rock Bistro & Bar, Henry's, Short Cakes, Capt's Waterfront Grill & Pub, Century House, Cape Ann Brewing Co. and the Sylvan Street Grille. Emmy-winning media personality Kim Carrigan will serve as auctioneer for the evening.
While at the event, attendees are welcome to peruse Acura of Peabody's selection of vehicles, including the popular Acura MDX luxury SUV, the brand's sales volume leader in February. The 2012 MDX sports the largest engine in Acura's lineup, a 3.7-liter VTEC V6 unit that delivers 300 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. That impressive muscle is dispersed though all four wheels thanks to the model's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, a valuable feature when dealing with the treacherous driving conditions often found during Massachusetts winters.
"Acura is starting the year off with strong sales, and the auto industry as a whole is much healthier, but it's times like these when it's particularly important to remember those that are still struggling," added Avery. "The Taste of the North Shore is our chance to do good for people who deserve it while still giving attendees a fun evening with delicious food."
