This solo exhibition emphasizes Alex Masket's uninhibited, bold use of color and his facility with unconventional media. Entirely self-taught, Masket's intricately composed and beautifully balanced work is dominated by color and form. Masket, who has severe autism, is unrestrained by the limitations of tradition, contemporary tastes or schools of thought. He displayed his instinctive sense of color and his interest in letters and numbers at the age of two. Now 24, he uses his sophisticated understanding of color, light and form to reveal his unique view of the world.

The documentary film, Breaking Boundaries: The Art of Alex Masket, by Dennis Connors, with original jazz score by Diane Moser, examines the nature of artistic communication and the creative impulse through a close-up look at the artist and his unique process. The film, which features commentary by art experts, won the Fall 2010 CINE Golden Eagle, as well as, many other documentary film awards.
