CAZENOVIA, NY (04/07/2011)(readMedia)-- The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall will host exhibitions of work by seniors in its Art and Design classes.
Alexis N. MacDonald is a senior from Cazenovia, N.Y., formerly from Rochester, N.Y., who is majoring in studio art. MacDonald created a postcard for her exhibition, titled 'one hundred and eighty days." The show runs from April 18 - 24, with an artists' reception on April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall, 6 Sullivan St., is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. Hours during the academic year are: Monday through Thursday, 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Friday, 1-4 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m. Summer hours vary.
She writes, "My work displays a critical view of human experience while existing in a throw away society. It is our common practice to consume materials void of potential beyond their initial purpose. This installation focuses on interrupting the pattern that trash typically goes through. Instead of being discarded, I have encapsulated it and given the garbage a trophy-like status. The work focuses on confronting viewers, and allowing them to visualize their own participation in the waste crisis that we face today.
